What is a rise and recline chair?
The rise and recline chair, also known as riser chair, chair lift or recline chair is a motorised armchair chair designed for people who find it difficult getting in or out of a standard recliner.
The chairs motors are controled by a control pad attached to the chair. Typically the control pad has a pocket to keep it tidy when not in use.
When the chair's riser motor is activated the chair gradually tips forward allowing the user to stand or sit from an almost vertical position. This will reduce strain on the back, hips, knees and other joints. The recline motor is used to recline the seat back and raise and lower the foot rest; dual action chairs are available which allow the seat back and foot rest to be operated independantly.
Most of our riser and recline chairs are fitted with a backup battery to allow emergency use during power failures.
Choosing a rise and recline chair
There are several things to consider when choosing a rise and recline chair. First, how would you like to use your chair, do you want to be able to recline into a full horizontal sleeping position, or just put your feet up? Will you want to be able to operate the foot rest separately from the back? If so you will need to look at dual action chairs.
A second consideration is the chairs dimensions, both internal and external. You should ensure that the internal dimensions are going to be comfortable for you, and that the external dimensions when reclined will fit in your desired spot.
The weight capacities of rise and recline chairs can vary a great deal; ensure that the chair you choose is suitable for the user.
Rise and recline chairs are available in many styles and fabrics to suit any home. Your rise and recline chair will provide you with years of comfort and support.
